The bucket list loses another member: Paul McCartney 5/30/2013.

It was five years in coming, but I can now say I have seen a Beatle.

Earlier tonight, my mother, girlfriend and I saw Paul McCartney at the BOK Center.  To say it was the best show I have EVER seen does not do it justice whatsoever.  Since it's construction I have seen four of the acts I have always wanted to see since I became aware of popular music in the arena: Bruce Springsteen, KISS, Van Halen and now Sir Paul McCartney.

Tonight, the old man ROCKED, and rocked HARD.  Two and a half hours of pure musical awesomeness.

In my youth I was introduced to Paul's music when my mom played songs like "Ob La Di, Ob La Da", and "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden", among others.  I can say that for at least part of the time I've been alive the Beatles were still together...I was born in 1968, two years before they broke up...but for a larger part of time, he was a solo act, popping up now and then with a hit like "With A Little Luck", "Baby I'm Amazed", "Take It Away", and so on.

Tulsa has been perennially too small a venue for big acts to take notice of...until the BOK Center was built the largest building we have to hold concerts in was the Oral Roberts University Mabee Center, which was fine for family oriented acts, (Elvis played there), but for the type of music I have been interested in it was somewhat unsuitable.  (I will say I have seen three concerts there: John Denver, Chicago, and Richard Marx).

Now we are in the big leagues...now we can get great acts like Paul McCartney.  If he returns to Tulsa I will go again.  I hope we can get other acts too that are on my list like U2, Madonna (no, I'm not kidding), Prince (Ditto...he's weird but a genius), and a few others.  We can do it...if a freaking Knight of the Realm/Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame member/ former Beatle can play here...why can't they?

It's doubtful you'll EVER read this Paul but thanks for a great show, and please come back to Tulsa.  Cheers!
