It's taken longer for me to compose my thoughts on this blog entry than any that I've written so far. That's not an over exaggeration either.
There has been a lot of death and stupidity in the last week.
Private citizens and police officers were involved, so I have deliberately kept quiet on this blog because of attachment to one side of the equation.
That is both a blessing and a curse because in this day and age, being law abiding and supportive of the police profession is not a good place to be silly because of reassignment of right and wrong that has taken place.
I say reassignment because I am struggling with the concept of refusing to obey a lawful order has become honorable and a death that results from that refusal is worthy of martyrdom.
Having never been in serious trouble in 48 years, maybe I'm naive when it comes to right and wrong. Indeed, I have never had occasion to get stopped by a police officer, let alone been harassed by one so there is one thing I can't speak to.
Nevertheless, common sense would tell you that being respectful and not defiant would dramatically increase your chance of (a) not being arrested and (b) not having any extra and potentially fatal holes punched into you by a projectile.
That is apparently too complicated for people in 2016. The thing is, no matter where you land on the subject it's obvious that there needs to be change. Even then, it seems that change is a profit based thing or more accurately, a "what's in it for me" attitude looking for an advantage over the other party.
Change has to be equal and mutually advantageous.
We need to figure that out.
