Science as a crutch.

Social media is a funny thing.

Once you get past the politics and people who post beaten and bloodied pictures of Jesus Christ it can be quite entertaining.

Which brings me to today's topic.

There are those people on social media who will use science as a means to end arguments.

Not a bad strategy,  but still flawed.

Sure,  when something is proven by science it is fact, but the fact that you cite science without UNDERSTANDING the material you're citing you're still as stupid as you were before the argument started.

If anything,  you're proving that you can operate the cut-and-paste function and little else.

It's great to use a quote or a paper by Neil DeGrasse Tyson when you are smacking down that right-winger that dares to infer that the earth didn't take billions of years to form instead of six days, but if you don't understand the material Tyson is saying you are still as dumb as you were going in.

Just something I've been banding about today.
