Since I don't really celebrate Halloween anymore (you'll find out why here in a couple days), I thought I would dish on the candy that I used to enjoy getting when I would go trick or treating, and when I could use candy on a recreational basis.
Yes, I just referred to candy like it is an addictive drug. To me, it was, and if I refer to it this way I can subdue any urges of abusing it...and keep my other foot.
Anyway...
My favorite candy far and away is the Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. I love them to this day. When I was a kid they were advertised on TV by seeing two adults walking down the street, one with a jar of peanut butter and the other eating a chocolate bar. They would approach a corner, bump into each other, and the candy bar would fall into the peanut butter. They would eat and that would be the selling point.
I don't know much about demographics but it sure worked on me. The flavors just work. The best part is that it feels like food and NOT candy. Sure, it's got an ungodly amount of sugar in it, and the peanut butter is much more salty than the stuff you make a PB&J sandwich out of, but like I said, it works. The flavors just blend right when you eat it. A close comparison to it would be a Snickers bar which, in my youth, was used as an energy bar of sorts during breaks in soccer practice, but nothing compares to a Reese's cup.
Just thought you'd want to know, and considering that the next entry is going to be a HUGE downer, I figure something light might be good beforehand.
