The debate about why the country isn't working the way it should, (as if there was a definable "right" and "wrong" way to run it), is always fun to participate in on social networking. President Obama has his fan club that wears every excuse in the book on his hip...from the guy he succeeded, to the uncooperative Congress to, yup, you guessed it, his race. The same is true of the opposition to the President, who are slowly training their guns toward the 2016 Presidential Elections.
While it was true in some circles that...based on George W Bush's unpopularity Osama Bin Laden could have won in 2008 with Timothy McVeigh as his running mate, (provided they were democrats), the same situation is panning it self out for the incumbency the next time around. What is entertaining, as an independent with a libertarian bent, is watching both sides accuse and apologize. The part that is disheartening nis that nothing gets fixed and the divide gets wider.
This was all fine and dandy when nothing else was going on in the world. Right now we have a former KGB agent who has invaded two former Soviet republics that became democracies in 1991 with the fall of communism, there's a missing airliner that has yet to land in Bejing after taking off from Kuala Lumpur this weekend. In the meantime we have the threat of terrorism that hasn't gone away since...oh...1979ish...and the United States is a broke and unemployed country.
The funny thing is, no one wants to step up, man up and fix the problem without putting the blame on someone or on something. There is a line from M*A*S*H when Hawkeye is trying to get Colonel Blake to get rid of Frank Burns where he says that when a patient dies it's "God's will or someone else's fault". That was written 40+ years ago and it rings true today. After the Bush administration there is more light on the United States than ever before and all that the country's "leader" and "lawmakers" are doing is blaming the other side for not getting anything done.
We are getting to the point where once again, something tragic has to happen to get the country back on a united stand again.
Then somehow, some way, one side will blame the other. And then what???
