The title of this post was a paraphrase of a quote from Dune, by Frank Herbert. It has little to do with religion despite the overtone, because it goes without saying that you have to have both physical and mental strength to put up with things the leaders of the state of Oklahoma come up with.
Yesterday, it became a felony for a doctor to perform an abortion in Oklahoma. That is to say, a law was passed and is on the Governor's desk ready for her signature. It really doesn't matter if she signs it or not the law was actually passed, and it is a bad law.
Many people will be stunned in reading that from me, mainly due to my right-leaning philosophies in politics but this is truly one of the most ignorant things this legislature has come up with at a time when this state has to rob Peter to pay Paul in terms of a budget. It would suit our Governor, Mary Fallin, to veto the law to save us from going through a pointless legal battle that the state will lose.
We literally have bigger fish to fry, and everyone in the state knows it.
Don't sign it, Mary. Just veto it.
