Tonight one of my friends told me that the founding fathers were not to be bowed down to because, according to him, they were "a bunch of slave owners and rapists.". I would have a lot of reasons to lose my mind at that statement...having relatives that fought in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War...but I have to consider the source.
What is that source, you may ask? Social media. Specifically the social media site that was founded by the ex-Harvard uber-nerd. They made a movie about him and the site. From there, so nothing blows up, I'll leave it to your imagination.
That said, it always makes me laugh how the social media gentry argues. Never mind that most of them spent their civics and government classes in school in a near catatonic state, on social media people can certify themselves as experts on everything from racism to liberals and conservatives to history and everything in between. Most of the time, they are holding the door for, and ordering room service for how wrong they are.
I am very glad indeed that social media was still in vitro when the impeachment of President Clinton occurred. The by-product of that is of course that once the impeachment happened now it's the answer to everyone's problems politically. The truth of the matter being that had Clinton been convicted and removed, Al Gore would become President. That's the 25th Amendment...something we are educated about from junior high school on. Of course, when George W. Bush became President, the other side was seeking revenge and they too, wanted him impeached. Who would replace him? Dick Cheney.
ASIDE: If President Obama were to be impeached, Joe Biden becomes the leader of the free world. If anyone would want Obama to finish his term in 2017, that should be one of the biggest reasons.
Of course, if America had any brains they would already know these facts, and more importantly, they would know that the lack of knowledge, or total ignorance is something the President and the government are hoping for and they do nothing to stop it. The strategy being that if you keep the rabble fighting, they won't notice the degree to which they screw up.
This is something that has probably been the status-quo since the information age began, and I am not talking about the time when a necessary household appliance was the personal computer.
In any case watching the debate on social media...and participating in it is a somewhat risky situation. I have, and I am trying to wean myself away from it. The media machine itself is part and parcel to keeping the rabble feuding...they know it...and they can get away with it because people do not realize that they are a cog in the big machine to get people elected. Some, like Fox News and MSNBC, do so unashamedly, as bias is part of their editorial policy.
Again, people who don't know any better hang on to every word that the hounds of those networks say and will argue the validity of what those two networks are pushing until their dying breath.
Never mind that following those two networks and holding their words out as the gospel is tantamount to being subject to what our parents and grandparents espoused at state-run media, by God if Bill O'Reilly/Rachel Maddow/Megyn Kelly/Chris Matthews said it, it is true as the word and shame on you for being so stupid by (A)Listening to them, or (B) believing what they tell you. Unknowingly, you are keeping the fight going so that people we trust to run our country can keep on doing something dirty.

If I can thank the people who were my teachers in school over the years for anything, it is that they empowered me with the ability to think for myself. The more I read the so called "experts" on social media, and see the complete ignorance they show, I am glad that the ability to think critically is there, born in my educational background. I would even argue that some of my teachers should be sainted for putting up with me in school. But that's beside the point.
The sad thing being at the end of it all: America is not an enlightened country...probably never will be, and the debate will rage on long after we are all fertilizing crops.
