Whitney and what is really wrong with America right now.

A week ago, Whitney Houston died.  You should have known that a week ago.

What should have been a tragic event in which the family of a celebrity should have been permitted the ability to mourn the passing of their loved one with dignnity and humility.  Instead seeing that her past was marred by a tumultous marriage and various addictions her death had all the respect that is given someone who is strapped into an electric chair.

It makes you wonder about people, it really does.

I am not a fan of Whitney's music. Never have been.  I find it to be screaming rather than singing.  She was talented nonetheless, despite what I thought and she deserved the accolades and the honors she earned during her time as the ruling voice of her medium.

An intelligent person would recognize this.  Then you turn to social networking...particularly the one that was founded by the rejected gazillionaire from Harvard.  Instead of being allowed to mourn a beloved singer/icon of their childhood they are met with crap like this whilst cruising their news feed:

and...

It surprised me.  How could someone like Whitney Houston all of a sudden spur on so much patritoic indignation and smart-assed imagery?

I compared and sontrated her death to that of Micahel Jackson's 3 years ago.  To many, he was on the right hand of Elvis in terms how he affected them.  Yet, when it comes to the death nof Whitney, who at one point could have been considered a female Michael Jackson in her day, mourning her is somehow disrespectful of soldiers fighting in the war?

Oh yeah, she was a drug addict!  I get it!

But wait...wasn't Michael Jackson accused at one point of child molestation in 2005?

Ooops.

You wonder why I feel as if the country is going to shit most of the time?  There you go.  One day God save us, we'll get it right, and the sad thing is, if say Lindsay Lohan expires at that same time some jackass will bring up her various transgressions over the years and whammo...we start the cycle all over again.

RIP Whitney...didn't care for your music, but you deserve a little respect.
